BURNOUTS AND NEW BEGINNINGS

I could’nt think of many countries where at sunrise you can be on the beach watching turtles laying their eggs and by sunset, amidst the locals and the travellers gathered around and creating an ambience to dwell upon.

To set forth the epilogue of my 2018 and the preface of 2019, I wanted it to be awe-inspiring. Thereupon idea of exploring the island of Sri Lanka popped up and triggered on 30th december,2018. I chose to explore the south-western part of this beautiful nation for the next 7 days.

NICE TO MEET YOU

The very intent of vacationing at Sri Lanka was to jubilate New Year’s Eve. After I got myself on the horizon of this beautiful place at Colombo International Airport, I instigated to Hikkaduwa. The beach of Hikkaduwa is situated 98 kms from Colombo towards the south of Sri lanka. This beach was an inclination for me since I was looking for a beach party. I was quenched enough because I got exactly what I wanted, a beach party full of firework display enjoyed by the mix of travellers and locals amongst whom were a bunch of bonkers from Bangalore who became the ultimate squad for the NYE at the enclave.

NOT REALLY A ROAD TRIP

A while later, I left for Galle from Hikkaduwa along a private taxi which approximately took 20 minutes to reach the former. It is a city on the south-west coast of Sri Lanka, popularly known for Galle Fort, the fortified old city founded by Portuguese Colonists in 16th century. The stopover at Galle was for a day where the accomodations were to my likings which was prearranged past trivago.com.

Subsequently, I began to head towards a town in Kalutara District, western province in Sri Lanka. Beruwala, a town located 60 kms south of Colombo was an exemplary place where I had a leisure time, I spent my time in recreation and spa. At Beruwala, they had several dining options and turkish themed lodging.

LET’S GO FOR AN EXPLORATORY ADVENTURE

The chronicle of breviloquent road trip where I had (not so) alluring moments on the road. I was exploring the roads of Beruwala to Colombo by virtue of a private taxi.IMG-20190226-WA0009

I spent the previous night at Cinnamon Bey, Beruwala.IMG-20190226-WA0013

Earlier those days while travelling, I escorted myself at Trincomalee where I spent the time flipping over Fernandaz Bar. I was staying at Margosa Bay Hotel which was pre arranged at bookings.com.

ALL DAY. EVERYDAY. (NOT SO) BEST BUDDY

Sri Lanka is best known for sea-cusines, but for those who are vegetarians and loves to travel gets adjusted with any of the vegetarian food offered. This place will satisfy you with Rice & Curry, the sole survival provision for refreshment where one can have a (not so) happy time munching on it.

MOST UNCOOL THING TO DO ON A TRIP

Going back home is the most bitter part of any trip. Before going back home, I was at Colombo where I had a leisure time at the R&B club( best only on Saturdays), which is the best night club in town.

Hotel: Cinnamon Grand

Medium of booking: Trivago.com

My time at Sri Lanka passed too soon. It was time to head back home from Colombo which took 5 hours to reach from Trincomalee with a bag full of memories, experiences and adventures that will be embraced endlessly.
